| Imagine trying to fill 20K prescriptions a day
(8hours). Further imagine 3 pill containers & miscellaneous items per prescription.
We did and we did it for a Major Pharmaceutical Mail Order prescription center
in Tempe, Arizona a couple of years ago. Quickly, we knew
the location of all medications. Our software was fed information about the medication to
be dispensed and the amount. SCS determined how many containers were needed and the amount
per container. SCS printed a label and affixed this label to each container and then the
containers were inserted and married to RFID pucks. They look like hockey pucks with
holes. These containers raced down the conveyors and were routed to the proper stations
for filling. When the prescription was completed, SCS routed the pucks to the
consolidation area where the prescription was assembled and packaged and shipped. |
Seeing this operation in action is believing.
